This thoughtful book can supplement and enrich any recovery. It offers a simple, new way to combine the Twelve Steps with novel techniques that encourage growth. Sherry Gaba has artfully crafted a method to transform your existence, offering a model for recovery that shows you how to be everything you ever hoped to be.

–Drew Pinsky, M.D.

Sherry Gives recovering people and their families a new look at an ancient subject that’s in the limelight again – how to stay sober and create as much joy as possible. Too many people are sober but haven’t found the ‘happy, joyous, and free’ part. This book will help you find your way.

–Melody Beattie, author of Codependent No More

There have been many bestsellers written about healing through the power of positive thinking—You Can Heal Yourself, The Secret, The Law of Attraction—all suggesting that what you put out into the universe is what you receive in return. This simple theory took the world by storm when it was first introduced and continues to connect with millions. Now, psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker Sherry Gaba, the Life Coach on VH1′s Celebrity Rehab, offers a method for putting this theory into action for addiction recovery. The Law of Sobriety: Attracting Positive Energy for Powerful Recovery (HCI $14.95) combines the power of positive thinking with real action steps; you will transform your life by shifting your focus from addiction to behaviors that align with sobriety.

While working at the high-profile Malibu Treatment Center in California, Gaba began to develop a working model for combining the spiritual focus of the Law of Attraction with the real work necessary to help anyone suffering from addiction to alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, or other addictions. In The Law of Sobriety, she shows how anyone in recovery can connect with a universal life force to create a life filled with harmony and peace. By using the seven action steps that Gaba details, recovery from addiction becomes about the new life to be embraced instead of about the addiction itself, and gives anyone in recovery the real tools necessary to create and maintain sobriety through purpose and a meaningful life.

The Law of Sobriety focuses on embracing the power of being in recovery and defining a new vision for one’s sober life. It combines the theories behind the popular Law of Attraction with specific action step to create and maintain sobriety, including:

  • Living a life on purpose and with intention
  • Finding life’s value
  • Learning to live in appreciation and with compassion
  • Living a life of authenticity
  • Deciding how to best create right action
  • Living with profound awareness and mindfulness
  • Letting go of resistance and attachments

As the author describes it, this book is a marriage of the Law of Attraction and the actions a person must take to recover from their addiction – whether the addiction is to drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex, shopping, nicotine, eating, or anything else. Hence, she calls it, “the law of sobriety.”

Hi,

My name is Amanda Kidd and I am a frequent reader of your blog. I am also a blogger who writes on lifestyle and Weddding. I would love the opportunity to guest post for your readers and I have few ideas which I think would go down really well.

We can do it in two ways:
1- I can suggest you few topics related to your site theme. You can choose any one out of them, and then I can submit the final article in a day or two.
2- Or you can suggest me a specific theme you would like me to write on.

All we would ask is that you allow us to include two simple links back to one of our blog.

Thanks and kind regards,

Briefly met you the evening of Jan 11, 2012 at Mandarin Express with Dan and Kim. You wished me well, thank you. My issues are not recent, but Kim said you were currently having difficulties. She did not elaborate. Hope all works out and you are happy again.
Take care
John
